Divorce, also known as “dissolution of marriage,” is a legal process in which a judge or other authority legally terminates a marriage, restoring them to the status of being single and permitting them to marry other individuals.
In Singapore, Divorce is a two-stage process. In the first stage, the court will deal with the question of the divorce itself, i.e. whether the marriage should be dissolved (i.e. discontinued). In the second stage, the court will deal with the “ancillary matters”, i.e. the children, the matrimonial assets ( for example, the HDB flat ), and maintenance for the wife and children.
